Seeing the Forest: Reckoning with Our Roots for a Racially Just Future

from $0.00

This anti-racist genealogy workshop for white people is a remedy for our collective amnesia, nostalgia and silence around race.

We’ll gather to reclaim our very human ancestors.

We’ll explore the ways we’re connected to each other and the land we live on.

How might we as white people learn from our history to make real change in the present?

What kind of ancestors do we long to be in our dreams of the future?

Is this workshop right for me?

People of all gender expressions, and all mixed-race and white-presenting people of color, who are interested in exploring their ancestry through an anti-racist lens are welcome to join us. The category of “white” may not be exactly how you define yourself. This workshop may still be useful to you if you want to explore the white parts of your identity.

As a working-class facilitation team, we strongly believe that cross-class spaces are vital to ending white supremacy and we warmly welcome people of all class backgrounds. We do not turn people away due to cost and offer free tickets.

How do I know if I’m ready for this workshop?

The way a person gets ready to do racial justice work is by doing racial justice work. You just need to show up and step into the river. We’ll be here holding out a hand. Our workshop participants lean progressive, and we warmly welcome people from across the political spectrum. Lots of people take the workshop with their mother, daughter, sibling, coworker or friend. Some of our participants are brand new to racial justice work. Others have been doing it for decades. We love to have a room full of people with different life experiences. This workshop is a perfect opportunity to jump-start both dialogue and action for change in your community and your life!
